Winter Holiday Bingo is an interactive speaking warm-up that encourages students to reflect on their Christmas and New Year experiences while revising the past simple and present perfect. Using a bingo-style grid filled with common winter and holiday activities, students practise sharing personal experiences in a fun, low-pressure way.
Give each student a bingo grid. Each square contains an action or experience related to winter holidays.
Students play bingo by moving around the classroom or speaking in small groups.
For each square, students must tell how they spent their winter holiday, using:
When a student hears an experience that matches a square, they mark it.
The first student to complete a row, column, or full grid says “Bingo!” and briefly reports some of the experiences they heard.
This activity works well as a lesson warm-up or speaking practice and can be easily adapted for A1–A2 with simple sentences or B1–B2 with follow-up questions and extra details. All 4 levels are provided as separate game pics.
