What if... | Second Conditional Warm-Ups

This activity encourages students to use their imagination while practising the second conditional. With sentence starters across five engaging topics, learners reflect on hypothetical situations related to work, study, technology, magic, travel, and everyday life.

How to Use

1. Present the sentence starters to students for each of the five topics.
2. Ask learners to complete the sentences using the second conditional.
   Example: “If I had a magic wand, I would…”
3. Encourage students to share their answers in pairs or groups to practise speaking and fluency.
4. Discuss the ideas and hypothetical scenarios to stimulate imagination and critical thinking.
5. Rotate through all topics so students have multiple opportunities to use the second conditional.
